Pure indulgence.
If you’re willing to splash out, then this is paradise. Prince Charles and Camilla stayed here in 2013 so that’s the kind of standard you’re looking at. Exquisite breakfast and dinner in a beautiful colonial mansion, very helpful staff, dreamy rooms with four poster beds. A treat.

The Location, Service, Room, Staff, Restaurant at Tintagel is like no other in Colombo. The old Bandaranaike mansion has been brilliantly restored and renovated. The Hotel is Grand in appearance while the service is friendly and professional. The suites are very comfortable, well-appointed and an excellent shower in a spacious bathroom with all amenities.

The building itself resonates with history. Rooms are high ceilinged, beautiful, and stylish. This atmosphere is helped by the tastefully selected art and furniture – the fit out is as comfortable and richly luxurious as would be expected. Swimming in the courtyard pool was a theatrical as well as restorative experience – and there are touches of drama throughout the hotel – the lighting of the dinning space, the private plunge pool reflecting sunlight onto the roof of our room, the stunning lit sculpture in the bathroom. Getting the smallest detail right effortlessly is the trademark here.

Hotel’s public spaces are intimate and serenely elegant. The dark walled library was amazing — hundreds of leather-bound books, big picture books — you could spend many comfortable moments here.

Each room is as beautiful as the other. Every art piece is unique, the locks to cupboards are different, every facet in the room is lovely and that’s what makes this hotel so charming, intimate and brilliant.
